A Sustainability teaching resource that highlights the issues and impacts of sustainability for primary aged children was developed in partnership with the Centre for Industry Education Collaboration.
The partnership between Thomas Swan and the Centre for Industry Education Collaboration (CIEC) started in 1996 when the late Tom Swan funded a three-year programme, which initiated Children Challenging Industry in County Durham. Harry Swan, Tom’s son and current CEO of Thomas Swan, committed to funding the development of a sustainability teaching resource.
Aimed at 9 to 11-year-olds, the resource contains both practical and discussion activities which can be performed at school and is designed to demonstrate that industry can be part of the solution to climate change. The resource can be downloaded from the CIEC website for free and was developed in partnership with Thomas Swan, Croda, Quorn, Johnson Matthey, University of York: GCCE (Green Chemistry) and YESI (York Environmental Sustainability Institute) and three members of the CIEC team.
