The EU REACH Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) has been updated to include two new entries:
- Diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide (CAS: 75980-60-8; EC: 278-355-8)
- Bis(4-chlorophenyl) sulphone (CAS: 80-07-9; EC: 201-247-9)
The EU Candidate list now has 235 entries of substances. Identification as an SVHC and inclusion on the Candidate List means that these substances are subject to further requirements under EU REACH, and that they may be placed on the Authorisation List (Annex XIV of REACH) in future.
ECHA have listed some examples of known uses for both substances in their news article announcing the addition, alongside the reasons for inclusion in the Candidate List and links to useful ECHA resources for further information on SVHCs.
In addition, REACHReady Gold members can also utilise our SVHC Resource Page, which explains how to navigate the full Candidate Lists for UK and EU REACH on the HSE and ECHA websites respectively, how to keep up with the updates to each list, and how to find information on registered uses of the substances and better identify potential occurrences within your supply chain.
