Purpose

This award is open to companies working in the science industry sector. Its purpose is to recognise the employer who has done the most to contribute to the acquisition of skills by the company’s workforce through an active skills development work programme. A good example of this is the Cogent Gold Standard, but companies who follow similar aims by a different approach are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

This award is open to all companies working in the science industry sector.  Following initial judging, applicants will be notified if they have been short-listed by 10 May 2024.  The winner will be announced at the Chemical Industry Awards Dinner.  Winning applicants should be willing to participate in publicity.

Criteria

Contenders for this Award will be judged against the following criteria:

  • Illustration of how your skills activities or programme supports your company’s strategic business plan and how it is owned by the company / site leadership team

  • A continuous learning approach to developing employees

  • Innovative approaches to training and competence development of the workforce – demonstrated by examples

  • Demonstration of the business benefits in from your skills activity or programme (for example through ROI, productivity, external accreditation, qualifications, attraction and retention of staff etc.)

Judging

The judging panel will consist of the sponsor, a CIA staff member, and at least 1 independent expert.

Closing Date

Entries to be made in confidence to Diana Tamayo on the Entry Form, signed by a member of the company leadership team, by 12 April 2024.
