This Award is to recognise an outstanding young person demonstrating communication skills and leadership associated with the chemical industry and contributing to its success.
The award is open to any person 29 or under on 30 September 2024 who is employed in the chemical manufacturing industry or is working for a company supplying key services to chemical manufacturers in the UK.
A manager of the company should nominate the candidate. Each site or major unit of a company may submit up to three candidates. Nominations should be sent by the closing date 12 April 2024. Following an initial review of the nomination forms selected candidates will be invited for interview. Applicants will then be notified if they have been short-listed. The winner will be announced at the Chemical Industry Awards Dinner. Winning applicants should be willing to participate in publicity.
Interviews (30 mins max) will take place virtually on 15 May 2024. Candidates should ensure they are available on this date.
Candidates will be assessed on a combination of:
Ability, or potential, to convey to others the excitement and opportunities the industry offers.
An appreciation of the issues and challenges facing the industry and its vision.
Strong personal commitment to the chemical industry.
Sensitivity, good humour and leadership skills.
Nomination forms will be used to identify a pre-shortlist of candidates who will be invited for to give a presentation and be interviewed by a panel of judges, either at CIA offices in London or the Sponsors office. Short listed candidates will be notified shortly after the interview and invited to attend the Awards Ceremony at which the winner will be announced.
The judging Panel will comprise the sponsor, a CIA staff member and an independent judge and previous winner.
The CIA and the sponsor will arrange a programme of activities for the winner, including being chair of ChemTalent. Submission of a nomination will be regarded as commitment in principle to fulfil this programme.
